Why We Came About

The Impetus Came From the Frustration We Saw

Our mom works hard.  She takes us to school in the morning, on the days she is not able to she has to find someone who can because she needs to get to the Aurora Go Train parking lot early enough to get a parking space.  We thought to ourselves, there must be a better way.  Why does she have to sacrifice like that?  So we began to ask questions, were there others who were in the same predicament? Time after time we heard the same things.  There just weren’t enough parking spaces.  While we were talking to our mom one evening, the thought came up about the parking spaces.  There always seemed to be a lot of reserved parking spaces available.  When my mom tried to get a reserved space, there was a waiting list.  All those unused spaces.

That’s where we really began.  We started out counting reserved spaces at different times of the day.  We wanted to see how many spaces were not being used on an average day.  What did we find out?  That on average there were nearly 70 unused reserve parking spaces.  On every one of the times that we counted spaces, we also noted that there were several cars illegally parked.  There were so few spaces, people had to choose between being late, and getting a parking ticket.  We also counted at the King Station and noticed the same pattern.  Empty reserved spots, illegally parked cars.  We needed to find a practical solution to this.  Something that would be economical, enforceable, environmentally friendly, and beneficial to all involved.  From that, GoSubSpace was born.
